How to Take Care of Your New Piercing You did the fun part. Now comes the part that actually determines how your piercing turns out. Good aftercare isn’t complicated—but it does require a little consistency. Here’s what you need to know. Clean It Daily A sterile saline solution is your best friend right now. Spray it around the piercing once or twice a day to keep the area clean and clear of any buildup. That’s really all you need. Don’t overcomplicate it with extra products, soaps, or anything your friend swears by. Saline. That’s it. Keep Your Hands Off We know it’s tempting. It’s new, it’s exciting—you want to touch it. Don’t. Your hands carry bacteria, and a fresh piercing is an open wound. The less you mess with it, the better it heals. And please—don’t twist or rotate it. That’s old advice that we now know does more harm than good. Be Smart About Sleep Sleeping directly on a fresh piercing is a fast track to irritation. If you’re a side sleeper, grab a piercing pillow and loop your ear through the middle so there’s no pressure on the piercing. Don’t have one? A travel pillow works just as well. It sounds a little extra—but your healing time will thank you. Be Patient Healing takes time, and different piercings heal at very different speeds. Lobes are generally quicker. Cartilage can take anywhere from six months to a year or more. Don’t rush it. Don’t change your jewelry too early. And don’t panic if it looks a little unhappy some days—healing is rarely a straight line. If you’re ever unsure about something, just ask us. The Groovy Peach team is always here to help you through the process—because getting you to a happy, healed piercing is just as important to us as the piercing itself.
