How to Show Up to Your Piercing Appointment Like a Pro Getting a new piercing is exciting. And while there’s not a ton of prep involved, a few small things can make the difference between a smooth, easy experience and one that’s a little rougher than it needed to be. Here’s what we tell every client before they come in. Eat SomethingWe mean it. Show up on an empty stomach and you’re asking for trouble. Low blood sugar and piercing nerves are not a fun combination, and we’ve seen more than a few people get lightheaded because they skipped lunch. Have a real meal beforehand, or at the very least a solid snack. Your body will thank you. Drink WaterSimple, but important. Being well hydrated keeps your body relaxed and makes the whole process easier. Skip the Alcohol and NSAIDsBefore and after your appointment. Alcohol thins your blood, which means more bleeding and a harder time for your piercer, and it can also interfere with healing after. NSAIDs like ibuprofen work similarly, so hold off on those too. Save the celebratory drink for when you’re fully healed and showing off your new piercing. Dress SmartThink about what you’re getting pierced and dress accordingly. Getting your ears done? Wear your hair up or bring a clip. The less your piercer has to work around, the better your placement is going to be. It’s a small thing that makes a real difference. Bring Your InspoIf you’ve been saving photos on your phone or building a Pinterest board, bring it. But honestly, you don’t even have to wait until you get here. Before your appointment, we send over a client intake form along with your consent form where you can share your inspiration, tell us what you’re thinking, and give us a sense of your vision ahead of time. That way our piercers can start building a plan before you’re even in the chair. By the time you walk through our doors, we’re already thinking about your ear. Show up fed, hydrated, and excited. We’ll handle the rest.
